-- Linebacker Dhani Jones will use the hiatus between minicamp and training camp to film episodes for Dhani Tackles the Globe.

The Travel Channel show, which features Jones traveling to countries and learning their favorite sports, has been picked up for a second 10-episode season. Stop one is Iceland.

-- During minicamp, film crews from HBO and NFL Films were shooting early footage for the upcoming season of "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Cincinnati Bengals." The crew shot interviews with Chad Ochocinco, Andre Smith, Leon Hall and Bernard Scott, among others.

The five-episode series debuts on Aug. 12. Steve Trout of NFL Films said that they will shoot 200 hours of footage for each hour-long show.

-- The roster currently stands at 81 after four players were released following the final minicamp practice.

Among those waived were two of last year's draft picks - tight end Matt Sherry (sixth round) and wide receiver Mario Urrutia (seventh round). Sherry was on injured reserve last year after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason while Urrutia was on the practice squad. Quarterback Billy Farris and long snapper James Smith were college free agents.

-- Team officials foresee no problems in signing their middle- to late-round picks. It's the first-round pick though that continues to be a concern as the team looks to be preparing for a long standoff with Andre Smith.

Negotiations also have not started with second-round pick Rey Maualuga. Last year's second-round pick, Jerome Simpson, did not sign until the day the Bengals reported to training camp.

-- The Bengals will report to Georgetown (Ky.) College on July 31, with an afternoon practice scheduled for the next day (3-5 p.m.). The first two-a-day session will be Aug. 1 (8:30-10:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m.). The team will break camp on Aug. 18.

QUOTE OF NOTE: "I came here to get away from (the media). You have Ocho." -- Laveranues Coles response when asked for a couple comments on minicamp from an Associated Press reporter.
