--Even at 2-1, Carson Palmer knows that there is a lot of room left for improvement. Statistically, the Bengals have the fourth-worst offense in the AFC and are 25th in the league largely due to the fact that the offense doesn't seem to get in gear until late in the game. "There were a number of big plays but also plays we need to get cleaned up," Palmer said. "We left some yards and plays out there. Looking back at the film, we realize we didn't play as well as we could've. I can't wait to play again and redeem ourselves and put together four good quarters of football. "We don't need that much uncertainty and drama at the end of games. It's a blast when it goes right but I'm getting too old to put up with that every week."
--On special teams, coach Marvin Lewis was also not happy with the punting game. Rookie Kevin Huber had only one of his five punts inside the 20.
There was also another high snap by Brad St. Louis, which is his second in three weeks.
"It wasn't our best effort as far as execution and we've got to keep working to get better at that," said Lewis about special teams. "We got off to a good start in the return game, but we left some returns out there. We've still got to work on punting the football, we can still be a little more productive with that with Kevin."
On St. Louis, Lewis said: "Brad doesn't have missed snaps and things like that in practice. For whatever reason they've shown up in a game. We have to go back fundamentally and do a good job with his technique and be accurate with the snap."
