When push comes to $50,000 shove Latest dust-up with Tuck costs Cowboys' Adams

When push comes to $50,000 shove Latest dust-up with Tuck costs Cowboys' Adams IRVING - Flozell Adams' cheap shots are getting expensive.

The NFL has slapped the Dallas Cowboys left tackle with a $50,000 fine for shoving New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck in the back.

A league spokesman said the fine was for unnecessary roughness, Adams' fourth such penalty this season. The league also warned Adams in a letter that another infraction could result in a suspension.

Adams wasn't in the locker room when it was open to the media Wednesday. Coach Wade Phillips said Adams plans to appeal the suspension.

After the league suspended then-Cowboys safety Roy Williams one game in 2007 for committing repeated horse-collar tackles, Phillips indicated he was worried league scrutiny would curb Williams' aggressiveness.

Asked if he had the same concern for Adams, Phillips said, "If (Adams) doesn't worry about it, I don't worry about it. I don't think he worries about that. ... In my opinion, he's not a vicious player."

Adams was caught on video shoving Tuck from behind at the end of the first half of the Giants' 31-24 victory Sunday. The blindside attack sparked a melee between several players from both teams on the New York sideline.

After the game, Tuck called Adams a "dirtbag" and a "coward."

Asked if he thought the league should fine Tuck for hurling those insults at Adams, Phillips said, "I'm not going to get into that. Tuck is a very good Football player."

Adams was fined $12,500 for tripping Tuck and attempting to trip defensive end Osi Umenyiora in the Giants' 33-31 win in Week 2.

Michael Strahan, the former Giants defensive end turned analyst, ripped Adams in a statement released by Fox Sports.

"I like Flozell as a guy, but I think on the field right now he's just being an idiot, it's unnecessary," Strahan said. "I don't know what Flozell's issue is with Justin Tuck.

"It's like he just doesn't care."
